Job Description

Reporting to the Operational Excellence Site Leader, you will have to work closely with all areas of the plant. Initially focused on setting up the infrastructure and the various technological systems for the start-up of the plant, you will then be responsible for monitoring the evolution of the PLC programs and production software (SCADA, MES, DB) related to the production equipment. You will also be a key player in the optimization of the plant and the evolution of the 4.0 environment using all the tools available. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the control systems.

Specifically, your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Start, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize various control systems, automated systems and data systems;
  • Program PLCs, HMIs and SCADA;
  • Program and monitor basic, intermediate and advanced process control strategies for the paper machine;
  • Integrate systems to ensure data validity;
  • Validate technological choices;
  • Collaborate with key players in the production teams to define requirements for dashboards and operation reports;
  • Support production and maintenance technicians in the search for solutions to operational problems and for advanced coaching.
 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automated Production Engineering combined with a minimum of 5 years of technical experience in automation in the manufacturing field.  A college degree in one of the following: Electrical Engineering – Automation and Control or in Computer Systems Technology (TSO) combined with a minimum of 10 years of experience may be considered equivalent;
  • Knowledge of system architecture and networking;
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols;
  • Knowledge of process loop optimization tools (Plant Triage);
  • Knowledge of automation (Rockwell is an asset);
  • Knowledge of SQL, Python, Ignition, Panel View, DCS Valmet DNA are assets;
  • A dynamic personality capable of asserting himself as a professional in his or her field;
  • Analytical, oral, and written communication skills;
  • The ability to integrate into a fantastic team!
