POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Technician will be responsible to ensure that all quality assurance program requirements are consistently achieved with a sense of urgency at the facility.
REPORTING
The Quality Auditor reports to the Product Development and Quality Manager
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Supports the quality training throughout the facility:
- Coaches operating teams on standards or procedures when defects or issues are found
- Collaborates with operators and supervisors to resolve any quality defects noted during audits
- Drives compliance and results of the Quality Management System though:
- Conducts daily workmanship checks across all PM and Converting assets to ensure compliance to QMS system/procedures.
- Supports testing for all mill and Technology trials
- Conducts daily retesting of retains across all paper machines daily, communicates results, and provides coaching and retraining, as necessary.
- Accurately documents all results in MES.
- Ensures correct specifications are used by operators and supervisors
- Ensures the daily operation and functionality of the testing lab and equipment:
- Conducts in lab equipment verifications daily
- Communicates any issues immediately to Quality Engineer or designate
- Completes cross calibration quarterly with corporate for alignment on test results
- Provides support to ensure all customer requirements are met for key tasks, such as:
- Assists Quality Technicians in sample orders
- Supports product launches, including additional testing, hourly sample reviews, and accuracy of new grades in MES
- Daily job responsibilities include:
- Ensures that all test results are accurately entered into MES prior to the end of shift.
- Communicates any defects or red events immediately to ensure product is contained.
- Ensures MES data is entered timely and accurately. Communicates red events immediately to Supervisors/Leaders and appropriate action taken to hold and correct this issues.
- Completes corporate Cross Calibration requirements each quarter without discrepancies identified.
- Lab Verification: daily verification checks are completed on assigned shift.
- Conducts retain testing each day, including communication of the results versus the original test results.
- Completes bone dry basis weights are tested daily and entered into the system each week
- Achieves WI and QPI corporate goals through completing required number of audits and finished product tests.
- Communicates daily workmanship results via text and email to operating teams by the end of each shift.
- Communicates all quality hold events via text, then follow-up with an email documenting the hold to the logistics/quality/operations team. Include the sku number, time of the hold, and a description of the defect.
- Completes full testing is required for each grade change, including pallet configuration.
- Identify and complete one additional project each year for personal growth/development or specific business need. (Optional)
- Collaborates with operations and logistics teams to ensure all Finished Product holds are contained and the issue is resolved.
- Notifies management immediately when products are out of specification
- Understand and follows all safety procedures, always wears proper PPE
- Accepts special tasks as assigned
