Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Stores Purchasing Agent is responsible for assisting the Stores Supervisor on managing inventory on a weekly/monthly basis.  This position will also assist with receiving deliveries, assisting the Stores Receiving Agent, put away items, shipping international and ensuring requisition compliance.

 

REPORTING

The Stores Purchasing Agent reports to the Stores Supervisor.

 

Accountabilities

  • Create/edit purchase requisitions in SAP in accordance with company standard operating procedures/policies
  • Contact vendors for quotes on new and repaired spare parts
  • Negotiate pricing for storeroom parts
  • Manage storeroom item categories for increased turns
  • Confirm availability of goods/services and delivery date for each purchase order provided to suppliers and ensure documentation is in order, with terms and conditions
  • Contact suppliers in order to schedule or expedite deliveries, resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, damaged goods, and other related problems
  • Work with accounts payable to reconcile store purchase order discrepancies and goods receipt discrepancies
  • Prepare and ship parts to vendors to repair, includes filling out billing/packing shipping orders
  • Maintain filing system and update appropriate records when required
  • Request vendors for quotes on non-stock work orders
  • Administer the ATS process in SAP
  • Assign SAP items to functional locations using the BOM system
  • Manage the SAP part repair and warranty process
  • Assist in inventory and cycle counts
  • Serve as a back-up role for Stores Supervisor and Purchasing Buyer roles

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Experience working in Stores/Procurement capacity, 2-3 years preferred
  • Experience with office procedure and methods, including computers such as Microsoft Office, SAP, and other applicable software and databases
  • Must be able to plan and organize work activities, manage work time efficiently, work independently
  • Ability to maintain a file systems to include alphabetical, numerical, and chronological filing activities
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with inventory management systems/processes
  • Ability to work in a Team environment
  • Must have proven complex analytical skills as well as the ability to develop sound recommendations and solutions
  • Demonstrated accountability and responsibility for independent judgement and successful outcomes
  • Consistent track record for executing performance objectives and delivering results
  • Committed to safety and organizational goals
