Job Description

The Warehouse Supervisor serves as the frontline supervision on the floor, for a specific crew/shift.  Each supervisor is responsible for their shift’s safety, productivity, and customer service. Supervisors will rotate with their crews on 12 hour shifts on a 4 on/4 off schedule with some additional dates as needed to cover Supervisor vacations or leaves of absence.

REPORTING

The Warehouse Supervisor reports to the Warehouse Superintendent

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide direct daily supervision of warehouse personnel to ensure the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the logistics department and adherence to all company policies and procedures.
  • Provides safety leadership, incorporates and maintains safety observations, including but not limited to, use of all PPE by employees, promotes good daily safety practices and habits. Personally, follows all rules and policies.
  • Follow up on employee performance and attendance issues.
  • Investigate, document and report near misses, fire incidents and property damage. Implement corrective actions where applicable.
  • Responsible for overseeing the training of employees within a crew to increase competency, understanding and accountability for performance
  • Communicates goals and objectives, applies company policy, administers corrective action, when necessary, promotes positive employee relations and manages the performance of employees.
  • Manage a logistics shift to achieve the target results in areas of Safety, Housekeeping, Training and Units Handled per Labor Hour in an area that exceeds 750,000 sq ft of storage space.
  • Manage the loading dock activities to ensure product is stored correctly and in the designated area.
  • Supervise the process of preloading trailers for outbound loads to ensure all loads are ready prior to ship date.
  • Support the shipping office after hours in absence of a shipping coordinator.
  • Support Paper Manufacturing by ensuring finished parent rolls are cleared from the conveyor and safely store in the warehouse without causing any downtime.
  • Support Converting by ensuring parent rolls are supplied to converting lines 5,8,9 and 10 without causing any downtime.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

    • HS Diploma/GED
    • Supervisory experience of 2-5 years preferably in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of warehouse operations
    • Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
    • Multi task in a high-volume environment and drive improvement opportunities
    • Ability to work as part of a team.
    • Provide consultation, coaching, facilitation or teaching to employees.
    • Ability to plan, organize, execute and works to specific goals and objectives
    • Ability to change and adapt to new situations
    • Promote change and growth. Establishes trust with employees through support, goal setting, action planning, and follow up
    • Office procedures, methods, including computers, Microsoft Office and other applicable software and databases
    • Understanding and experience with effective conflict resolution.
    • Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems
